Offered here is an incredible relic from the early days of baseball. This 32-inch long flat-sided bat dates to the 1850’s. The bat, which is approximately an inch-and-a-half, is made of a dark wood and shows plenty of use. “V.K.” is notched in what would be the lower barrel and a small hole is also on the center barrel. There appears to be some checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact on the lower barrel on one side and some chipped wood on the other side. A truly incredible piece of baseball history.
