Offered is a fold over scorecard for an 1887 American Association game between the Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers and the Louisville Colonels played at Washington Park. This attractive program style has a central image featuring an illustration of a generic batter with the catcher closely behind him, right fielder in the distance. This image is similar to the period advertising trade cards and coloring scheme of the very desirable 1887 Huebach baseball statues, and below is the phrase "Two Strikes." The image is finely rendered and very attractive. With the scorecard and on the back cover are advertisements for several local Brooklyn establishments, mostly business located along Flatbush Avenue. The preprinted lineups include Pete Browning of Louisville, who hit .402 that season. The program, printed by John B. Sage of Buffalo, N.Y., has the date “June 17/87” written in pencil and has been neatly scored in pencil for three full innings and part of the fourth. The home town Dodgers appear to be leading 4-2 when the scoring ends, and our research indicates no game was played between the clubs on the 7th of June 1887. However, the Louisville nine defeated the Brooklyn-ites 4-3 a day earlier. Perhaps this was a scheduled game which was rained out? The scorecard (4.25 x 7 inches) has a few scrapes, but is fully intact and remains in Very Good to Excellent condition.
