Presented is a 25-card complete set of Duke "Transparencies" non-sports cards issued in the 1890s. The N137 edition of "Transparencies" fails to catch the eye of most hobbyists perusing any applicable reference guide. In the A.C.C., Burdick valued them equal to some of the most rare and treasured sports releases and more than the entire Early Candy & Gum "E" Section. This series is that rare. Issued on the most fragile of paper stock and designed to be mounted to windows, few, if any examples survived with the original instruction sheet attached. This offering includes one example with the tissue intact and one separate instruction sheet. A majority of the cards present at the EX to EX/MT level (some lesser), but are downgraded on technical terms owing to folds and wrinkling. Quite possibly the only 25-card complete set known in the hobby. As a point of reference on value, this set sold at auction in 2008 for $3,300.
