Offered is the signature of President William McKinley on a typed campaign letter on his personal stationery. McKinley was the 25th president of the United States, serving from March 4, 1897, until his assassination six months into his second term, September 14, 1901. During his presidency, McKinley led the nation to victory in the Spanish American War, raised protective tariffs to promote American industry and kept the nation on the gold standard.
McKinley has signed the 5½ x 8½-inch white sheet of stationery in gold ink, below a typed (in blue) letter to Chas. M. Jarvis, Esq., President of the Berlin Iron Bridge Co. in East Berlin, Connecticut. In the April 21, 1896 letter, McKinley wrote, “Your favor of 14th inst., is received, and I note with much satisfaction the action of the Republican voters of your enterprising little town…” The stationery is engraved in black, “William McKinley, Canton, Ohio.” This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
