Wonderful things emerge from the most unexpected places! One such event took place recently, as our consignor undertook the task of processing her late grandfather's household effects. The mundane activity of cleaning a closet yielded unanticipated treasure: an album containing the extraordinary cache of postcards presented here.

Many of Granddad's belongings had their origins in a long-ago, past generation, and thus weren't immediately familiar to the younger members of the deceased gentleman's family. But our consignor diligently researched the vintage treasures. It quickly became clear that the best, first-step approach to handling the cards sensibly – and to determine their value – was to submit them to PSA for authentication and grading.

With that successfully accomplished, she focused on a comparison of avenues through which they could be offered for sale. She looked at online presentations, scrutinized advertised consignment proposals and analyzed prices-realized results in a thorough manner. Her methodical and responsible information-gathering led to a comfortable conclusion: she decided to entrust her family's collectibles to Goldin Auctions. Our company appreciates her confidence in our organization, and we are very pleased to offer these splendid items to the collecting public.

Each card has been graded by PSA. Presented is a 15-card near set of 1907 PC765-1 Detroit Tigers postcards produced by A.C. Dietsche of Detroit. With its 2.65 GPA (Set Rating: 1.12), this assembly merits "#5 Current Finest" accolades on the PSA Set Registry! (Curiously, PSA combines the full, three-year run of Dietsche subjects in its Registry listings, and does not rank the annual issues separately.) Originally conceived as a commemorative for the 1907 World Series, these stylish, 3-1/2" x 5-1/2" postcards were issued during the Fall Classic over a three-year period. These collectibles are quite desirable, and virtually never offered in satisfying multiples. This gallery is missing only Cobb/Fielding for completion. The near set includes: Graded PSA VG-EX+ 4.5: 1 card, Killian; PSA VG-EX 4: 1 card, Siever; PSA VG 3: 3 cards w/Cobb (Batting), Jennings and Rossman; PSA GD 2: 10 cards w/Coughlin, Crawford, Donovan, Downs, Jones, Mullin, O'Leary, Payne, Schaefer and Schmidt.

1907 PC765-1 Dietsche Post Cards Detroit Tigers Near Set (15/16) - #5 on the PSA Set Registry!
