Presented here is a Presidential appointment from 1907 signed by President Theodore Roosevelt. One of America’s most popular presidents, Theodore Roosevelt was a man of vast interests not limited to the office of the Presidency. A veteran of the Spanish-American War, Roosevelt established the National Park service and became known for his progressive policies favoring the American worker. A masterful negotiator, Roosevelt was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating the end of the Russo-Japanese War. Roosevelt was a lifelong outdoorsman, known almost as much for his vigorous spirit as his political achievements. Offered here is a 20 x 16-inch Presidential appointment resting on a cream matte inside a 24 x 28-inch frame. The appointment conferred upon a Samuel Lee of Michigan to the position of Consul to Nogales, Mexico. The document was signed by President Roosevelt and Elihu Root, the Secretary of State, on December 10th, 1907. Roosevelt and Root signed the document in black ink. A faded seal appears on the bottom left of the document. The signatures are bold and clear, and the framed document displays five crease folds running vertically through the document. The ornate wooden frame contains some dents and scratches that do nothing to detract from the document’s luster. A piece of American history signed by one of the nation’s greatest Presidents, the item comes with an LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signatures.
