2017 Great American Trading Card Auction Ending April 1

Graded 40 VG 3 by SGC. “Piedmont - 150 Subjects” back. Among a total of sixty-one copies recorded in SGC's census reporting, just eleven examples have been placed at a higher tier. Offered is an admirable example of what is indisputably one of the most famous and valuable "error" cards in our hobby. At the beginning of T206's print run, a few cards from the "Piedmont 150" series slipped out with Phillies outfielder Sherry Magee's name misspelled as "Magie." This mistake was quickly discovered and corrected, and the few early, undetected copies have become today's profound rarities. This is, of course, one of the "Big Three" from the White Border production, and an entry that is absent from many high-profile tobacco card collections. This copy concedes minor wear at the still well-shaped corners, but its overall attractiveness is indisputable. The card's distinctive "error" caption component is crisply printed and the Piedmont back advertisement is fully legible. This ever-elusive piece, presented here in a favorable state of preservation, appears on the wantlist of almost every T206 collector, and is considered a defining mark of accomplishment for its owner. Minimally Very Good condition, with a captivating presence.
