Graded 60 EX 5 by SGC. Hall of Famer. “Piedmont - 350 Subjects” back. Among more than 280 copies recorded in SGC’s census reporting, forty-eight examples have been placed at a higher tier. The great Tris Speaker was just coming into his own when this card was produced. Since he was a relative unknown at the time, with barely one full season under his belt, this is Speaker's sole representation in the T206 set even though most of his future Cooperstown colleagues appeared in two, three or even four poses. (Had the series been issued a couple of years later, there undoubtedly would have been portrait and fielding poses conceived, as well.) Here is an unusually high-demand T206 Hall of Famer depiction, presented on a praiseworthy collectible. The piece exhibits generally unobtrusive corner wear (heaviest at the top right), consistent with the grade. Clean Excellent condition.
