The T206 baseball cards were issued by the American Tobacco Company from 1909 to 1911 and inserted in their 16 different brands of tobacco products and are a landmark set in the card collecting community due to their size and scarcity. Presented here are six cigarette slide boxes and five coupons from The American Tobacco Company that housed those rare cards. The three slide boxes are in various forms of condition, mostly fair, and contain wear typical of an item that is over a century old. The boxes are for Piedmont, Sovereign, and The British-American Tobacco Company (from their partnership with the American Tobacco Company) and have been opened and contain tears, edging, and elements of cornering. Of the five presented coupons, two are for Polar Bear cigarettes, a subsidiary of the American Tobacco Company, and are a faded orange with red lettering. The reverse on the coupon gives out details and cut-off date for the redemption of the coupon. The coupons are in fair condition. There are two coupons for Piedmont Cigarettes, with one being a faded orange and the other a faded yellow, and are in fair condition with a list on the reverse of redeemable gifts for the coupon. The last coupon is for Sweet Caporal cigarettes and is a faded gray. The reverse of the coupon lists details on how to redeem the coupon for “50 Egyptian Cigarettes” and is in fair condition. These unique specimens that were the first vessels for baseball cards are historical and give a glimpse into the early days of card collecting.
