Winter 2020 Catalog Auction Ending Feb 22
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2020
Offered is a 67-piece collection of P2 Sweet Caporal Pins issued between 1910 and 1912. Prior to 1910, few attempts were made by tobacco companies to instill brand loyalty with anything except insert cards. Starting around 1910, alternative items were marketed, namely a proliferation of non-paper premiums including silks, leathers, and pinbacks such as these, the largest baseball set of celluloid pins ever produced. The Sweet Caporal pins measure approximately 7/8" in diameter and present their portrait subjects in a grayish- or brown-hued field. Highlights include: Baker, Bender, Cobb, Cicotte, Collins, Evers, Jennings, Johnson, Marquard, Speaker, Wallace and Young. Generally, EX to EX/MT condition (some lesser).
