Graded 30 GD 2 by SGC. Hall of Famer. In 1911, the advertising efforts of General Baking Co. yielded several identical 25-card productions. Five different G.B.C. brands were involved in this insert card promotion; among this group, the offered Christy Mathewson example was issued with a loaf of Brunner's Bread. Due to the very limited geography of their distribution, these Brunner Bread cards are intensely scarce (as are the cards from any of the other four sponsors). This bright and highly appealing specimen stands as an ideal representative of its type. The card's centering is very favorably aligned, and the corners reflect moderate, generally inoffensive wear. Faint diagonal creases can barely be seen near two of the item's corners, and a small smudge (not affecting legibility) appears on the reverse. Overshadowing these discrepancies, however, is a compelling richness of color in the cardfront image, which is also notable for exceptional register of the image. Good condition, but projecting truly extraordinary visual appeal.
