Presented is a lot of two Baseball Magazine items, including a premium insert of Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson. The first item in this lot is a copy of “Baseball Magazine” (Volume III, Number 2), a “Park Edition” from July 1913. The 7 x 10-inch front cover has an illustration of a player at bat with a stadium grandstand in the background. The front cover bears the headline “The Emery Ball – The Strangest of Freak Deliveries” in blue type on the bottom. This item has been encapsulated and authenticated by Beckett Grading Services and is graded Authentic (0011196621).
The second item in this lot is a black & white photo card of Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson, posed on the mound, which was a “Premium Insert” for “Baseball Magazine” in 1915. The photo is labeled “Walter Johnson Washington-American” at the bottom of the 7 x 10-inch cardstock insert. The “Big Train” played his entire 21-year baseball career for the Washington Senators (1907–1927) and was one of the “first five” inductees into Cooperstown in 1936. This item has been encapsulated and authenticated by Beckett Grading Services and is graded Authentic (0011196622).
