Graded 20 FAIR 1.5 by SGC. Hall of Famer. This is one of just twenty examples, in total, recorded in SGC's census reporting. The rare E220 candy cards are similar in format to other issues of the period – with many photos originating from the same sources – but a Ruth example from the National Caramel Company's production represents the general type's greatest challenge. The E220 version of Ruth's kinetic batting-pose depiction is visually striking on this quality specimen. The inherent delicacy of the E220 series is made evident by manifestations of corner wear and peripheral creases affecting the offered copy, but the elusive piece's overall aesthetic remains thoroughly commendable. A very desirable vintage collectible, in satisfying Fair condition. Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
