In 1922 St. Louis Browns left fielder Ken Williams managed the unthinkable – wrestled the AL home run title away from Babe Ruth. Williams club 39 round trippers that season and for a time was considered Ruth’s main rival in the American League. Williams followed up his HR Crown season with three seasons of .339 ball and leading the AL in slugging in 1925. Williams’ 1923-1925 era Hillerich & Bradsby pre-model bat shows heavy game use with a crack in the center brand that has been repaired. A small 4-inch piece less that is approximately 1/16 of an inch is missing from the back barrel but is not very large nor distracting. Many ball marks cover the right and back barrel and cleat marks are found on the left and front barrel. A rare gamer from the one slugger who gave Babe Ruth a run for his money as the home run king of the early 1920s. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B01077) for the game use.
