The sturdy shot-stopper Andres Mazali manned the Uruguay net during La Celeste’s 1924 and 1928 Olympic titles in Paris and Amsterdam. Mazali, a player for perennial title contenders Club Nacional in Uruguay, claimed three South American championships and five Primera Division titles with his combination of preternatural athleticism and tenacious play. Mazali’s finest hour with Uruguay came in the 1924 Paris Summer Olympics, where El Buzo and the Uruguay defense surrendered only a single goal.

Offered in this lot is a laurel wreath pin presented to Mazali by the Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol (AUF) in recognition of the 1924 Paris Summer Olympics gold medal. This pin is gold in color, with a high-relief laurel wreath present on the front. The reverse side of the pin is etched with “A. Mazzali”. This pin is a terrific momento from one of the most decorated international goalkeepers of the 20th century! This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
