The legendary Uruguayan soccer player Jose Leandro Andrade is depicted in this vintage tin plate printing from the 1924 Olympic Games. Nicknamed “The Black Marvel”, Andrade was a marauding wing-half with a game that compares favorably to modern talents such as Zinedine Zidane and Michel Platini. Andrade, a native of Salto, played domestically for Bella Vista, Nacional, and Peñarol while earning 34 caps for the La Celeste in a magnificent international career. Andrade helped lead Uruguay to numerous world titles, including a pair of Olympic triumphs in 1924 and 1928 before directing Uruguay to victory in the 1930 World Cup. This offered tin plate printing of Andrade shows “The Black Marvel” from the chest up. Orange backing is applied to this 2.5 x 4-inch tin plate printing, which originates from the archives of Mundo Uruguayo magazine in Montevideo. This item is in good condition. This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
