Swedish striker Tore Keller was presented with this bronze medal at the 1924 Paris Summer Olympics. In the 1924 Olympics, Sweden were eliminated in the semifinals by the eventual runners-up Switzerland, though they defeated the Netherlands in the third place game by an aggregate score of 4-2 over two legs. The 19-year old Keller was one of two teenagers on the Swedish Olympic roster, and he would go on to appear for Sweden in the 1934 and 1938 FIFA World Cup. Keller made 25 appearances for Sweden, scoring eight goals. Domestically, Keller played for IK Sleipner, a Norrköping-based club named after Odin’s eight-legged steed in Norse mythology. Keller made over 300 appearances for Sleipner, scoring 152 goals and leading the club to their only Allsvenskan championship in team history, won during the 1937-38 Swedish season.

This offered bronze medal was minted by Andre Rivaud and measures 2.25 inches in diameter. Etched in high relief on the front is “VIII EME / Olympiade / Paris / 1924” and an arcing scene featuring a lyre and numerous pieces of sporting equipment. Etched in high relief on the reverse side are two athletes, with one seated and the other helping him to his feet. Etched below these two competitors are the iconic interlocking Olympic rings. This historic medal is in excellent condition. This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
