Offered in this lot are two ticket stubs from the 1925 World Series between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the defending World Series champion Washington Senators. The first ticket is from Game 2, a 3-2 Pirates victory at Forbes Field in the South Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Glenn Wright put the Pirates on the board with a fourth inning round tripper, and the Hall of Famer Kiki Cuyler put the game away with a two-run jack in the bottom of the eighth off his fellow Hall member Stan Coveleski. Coveleski and the Pirates Vic Aldridge both went the distance in this thrilling encounter. This ticket stub has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (20877001).
The second ticket in this lot is from Game 3, a 4-3 Senators win at home in Griffith Stadium. Alex Ferguson earned the win for Washington, while Firpo Marberry pitched the final two innings to record the save. Joe Judge had two RBI for Washington and Goose Goslin connected on a solo home run off Ray Kremer in the sixth frame. The Pirates went on to win this World Series in seven games, defeating Walter Johnson in the final matchup of the Fall Classic. This offered ticket to Game 3 has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (20810119).
