If George Sisler played for any other team than the lowly St. Louis Browns, there would be no doubt he would be as well-remembered as Ty Cobb or Lou Gehrig. Strikingly handsome and well educated, “Gorgeous George” was one of the most fiercesome hitters of the teens and twenties. His 1922 season in which he hit .420 (including 41 straight games) and led his league in hits, triples and stolen bases, has gone down as the most impressive single-season performance in the history of the game. Sisler was traded to the Senators in 1928 and then to the Braves where he wrapped up his career in 1930, ending with an impressive .340 lifetime average and a charter membership to the Hall of Fame.

Sisler used this bat during his final seasons in the Majors. The Spalding Model 200 bat displays outstanding game use with a repaired handle crack. Many ball marks are found on the right and back barrel along with cleat impressions. PSA/DNA have dated this bat to the 1926 period due to the Model 200 being manufactured by Spalding from 1926 to 1934, with 1926 being the last season the company offered Sisler signature bats. That this is a professional model and not retail is identified by the “Hand Turned” stamping on the barrel; retail bats were stamped with “Autograph” in its place as well as the fact that the company did not offer the Model 200 Sisler in catalogs or in stores. A stunning game used bat from one of the greatest hitters of baseball’s Golden Era. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B14790) for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8.5.
