Encapsulated and graded EX 5 by PSA. This is one of two examples at its tier (with one graded higher) among a total of twenty-eight copies recorded in PSA's census reporting. The Yankees cruised to a 10-5 romp over the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 4 of the 1926 World Series, and the dominant headline of the game was a three-home-run display by Babe Ruth. All of that power was on full view for the holder of this stub on October 6, 1926 at Sportsman's Park. (It was nationally reported at the time that Ruth had promised a home run in this game to a bedridden boy, Johnny Sylvester, and that the young man experienced a remarkable recovery after the Babe delivered so dramatically.) Ruth went 6 for 20 (a .300 average) with four homers and 5 RBI in the 1926 Yankees' four-games-to-three World Series loss to the Cardinals. Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
