Presented here is a ticket to Game 5 of the 1926 World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees. The Yankees won Game 5 on the road, defeating St. Louis 3-2 in a thrilling 10-inning contest at Sportsman’s Park. Both starters, the Hall of Famer Herb Pennock for New York and Bill Sherdel of the Cards, went all 10 innings, with the Yankees winning on Tony Lazzeri’s sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th. Mark Koenig, Lazzeri, and Ben Paschal plated New York’s three runs while Les Bell and Bob O’Farrell knocking in the two runs for St. Louis. Unfortunately for the Yankees, their Game 5 victory was not enough to earn the series win, as St. Louis claimed the title in seven games. This ticket stub has been encapsulated and graded a VG 3 by PSA (20316228).
