This photographic relic captures the magic of the Babe's long ball prowess in World Series play: he delivered in Game 3 and Game 4 of the '27 Fall Classic. The offered image radiates exquisite detail with no distractions. The 8" x 10", black-and-white scene captures the power of Ruth, the tension felt by the on-field participants and the anticipation of the crowd, conveying the sensation of all of these elements to the observer. The depiction's foreground is sharply focused and the background has a softer focus, a circumstance that makes the action stand out with heightened dramatic effect. The rare piece displays routine newsroom wear and edge faults, none of which impinge upon the image's quality of presentation. Boldly embossed notations reading, "FILE COPY / DO NOT REMOVE," are visible from both sides; the desirable proprietary stampings of Underwood & Underwood appear on the reverse. Of additional interest is a back-stamping reading, "VALUABLE ORIGINAL / MUST BE RETURNED," suggesting that this could have been the first photo created from the negative, and thus became the file copy. LOA from PSA/DNA.
