Presented is what might be the greatest signed collectible ever assembled from the 1927 “Murderer’s Row” World Champion New York Yankees: A COMPLETE multi-signed framed piece containing EVERYONE pictured in the team photograph.
There are 31 signatures in all including four signed on the photo and 27 individual autographs on varied media - the most ever offered together of this historic team. Each item is matted and mounted into a 48 x 56 inch framed display above a 3 x ¾ inch silver name-plate, including the enormously rare autographs of players Don Miller and Joe Giard, each on a 1927 payroll check, as well as coaches Art Fletcher, Chas. O’Leary, and batboy/mascot Eddie Bennett. Other document highlights include: Herb Pennock and Doc Woods payroll checks and a Miller Huggins stock certificate.
A 46 ½ x 5 ½ inch cutout of the famous Yankee Stadium façade sprawls across the top to add eye-appeal and centered is the 9 x 16 inch black and white team photograph with printed identification in white of all of the players pictured. The four who have signed the photo are Hall of Famer Waite Hoyt, Mark Koenig, George Pipgras, and Ray Morehart. The signatures (from left to right) of Hall of Famers Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth and Tony Lazzeri are centered below the team photo and above a 6 x 10 inch black and white vintage photograph of Yankee Stadium.
A white “1927” has been artfully cutout of the navy blue matte above the team photo. The remaining signatures vary in size and format and have been placed evenly around the display to include: Hall of Famers Earle Combs and Miller Huggins; Myles Thomas, Pat Collins, Cedric Durst, Mike Gazella, Julie Wera, Joe Dugan, Ben Paschal, Johnny Grabowski, Walter Beall, Herb Pennock, Joe Giard, Urban Shocker, Doc Woods, Don Miller, Charlie O’Leary, Benny Bengough, Bob Meusel, Wilcy Moore, Dutch Ruether, Arthur Fletcher, Bob Shawkey and Eddie Bennett. 1927 New York Yankees multi-signed items have fetched more than $250,000 and those were not as complete a representation of the team as is this unprecedented grouping. Goldin Auctions is proud to offer what can be considered the greatest 1927 New York Yankees team signed item. This framed piece comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AA07033).
