This stunning figural catcher baseball trophy was presented to the winner of the Washington Park Senior League for their 1927 season. Baseball trophies from this era are highly sought after as collector’s items, and this grand is example is a fine paragon of early 20th century metalworking. This desirable trophy shows a catcher squatting over a large baseball and mounted on a painted wood pedestal. A placard on the pedestal features “Championship Trophy / Press / Bureau of Recreation / Washington Park / Senior League / 1927” etched in high-relief. It measures approximately 20 inches tall, with the base measuring 8 inches in diameter. The trophy shows some weathering, as expected from a trophy nearly a century old, but is otherwise in very good condition. This is a truly fantastic display piece for the dedicated and astute collector.
