Offered here is a press pass for the New York Yankees doubleheader matchup against the St. Louis Browns on July 8th, 1928 at Yankee Stadium. Surprisingly, the Browns took both games for the eventual World Series champion Yankees. The Browns won 10-4 in the first game after Yankees starter Archie Campbell gave up six runs in the first inning and a third. Red Kress and Lu Blue each knocked in three runs for the Browns while Earl McNeely chipped in two RBI of his own. Earle Combs and Mark Koenig contributed the three runs for New York. In Game 2, George Blaeholder’s complete game helped the Browns to a 5-3 victory over Hank Johnson and the Yanks. Blaeholder, Lu Blue, and Fred Schulte all homered for the Browns in their road victory, while Babe Ruth hit the 448th homer of his career in the losing effort.
