Offered here is a press pass for the New York Yankees game against the Boston Red Sox on June 24th, 1928 at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees, in the middle of a 101-53 season, defeated the Red Sox 4-0 behind a Babe Ruth home run and a complete game, three-hitter from starting pitcher George Pipgras. Pipgras pushed his record to 13-2 with the win, and he would finish the year leading the American League with 24 victories. Ruth’s home run, a solo shot in the bottom of the third off Red Sox starter Jack Russell, was his 444th career longball. The Yankees would end the season as the American League champs by a 2.5 game margin over the Philadelphia Athletics before they defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in a four-game World Series sweep.
