In 1928, Uruguay returned to the Summer Olympics on a mission to win their second consecutive gold medal in soccer. After a shocking victory over Switzerland in the 1924 Olympic final, Uruguay came up against continental rivals Argentina to close out the 1928 Amsterdam Summer Olympics. Over two legs, Uruguay triumphed 4-2 over Argentina, sealing Uruguay’s bid to host the 1930 FIFA World Cup. Offered in this lot is a program from the 1928 Amsterdam Summer Olympics originating from the personal memorabilia collection of Uruguayan goalkeeper Andres Mazali. This program shows a runner on the front cover and is written in Spanish. Please note that the front cover, back cover, and final page of the program are no longer attached to the binding. This is a historic piece of memorabilia from Uruguay’s time as the world leader in soccer! This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
