Coming off back-to-back World Series championships and six Fall Classic appearances in eight years, the 1929 New York Yankees boasted eight future Hall of Famers on the team’s roster. All of whom signed the magnificent Official American League (E.S. Barnard) Ball presented here, including manager Miller Huggins who died on September 25, two weeks prior to the end of the season. This red and blue stitched ball carries 22 autographs, all in black steel-tip fountain pen with Babe Ruth’s flowing cursive signature occupying the sweet spot. All labeling and stamping including AL President E.S. Barnard’s facsimile signature remains vivid. Other Hall of Fame signees include; Lou Gehirg to the right of Ruth, Leo Durocher on the same side panel as Gehrig above Earle Combs with Bill Dickey at the top of the opposite side and Herb Pennock and Tony Lazzeri on the other opposite side panels. The rest of the signatures include Mark Koenig, Bob Meusel, Tom Zachary, Bob Shawkey, Benny Bengough, Gene Robertson, Art Jorgens, Fred Heimach, Ed Wells, Cedric Durst, Ben Pascal, Lyn Lary, George Pipgras and Roy Sherid. Off white, cream colored ball remains in excellent condition and all signatures range in grade from “6-9”. This high-grade N.Y. Yankees 1929 team ball comes with PSA/DNA LOA certification #V00497.
