The 1929 World Series saw Connie Mack’s high-powered Philadelphia Athletics match up against Joe McCarthy’s Chicago Cubs. The A’s won their fourth World Series title by defeating the Cubs in a five-game series thanks to a combination of dominant pitching – allowing the Cubs to score more than three runs in only one of the five games – and timely power hitting, with Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, and Mule Haas all slugging two home runs in the Fall Classic. Offered here is a ticket stub to Game 3 of the 1929 World Series. This was the Cubs only victory of the postseason, a 3-1 victory over the A’s at Shibe Park. Each starter threw a complete game, with Guy Bush of the Cubs outdueling Philadelphia’s George Earnshaw. Kiki Cuyler knocked in two runs for the Cubs, while Rogers Hornsby went 2-4 with an RBI. Bing Miller recorded the A’s only RBI on a fifth inning single off Bush. This ticket stub has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (22027037).
