Uruguay won the 1930 FIFA World Cup in the heart of Montevideo, defeating archrivals Argentina 4-2 in a controversial final match of the inaugural World Cup. Uruguay occupied the upper echelon of global soccer in the 1920’s, winning a pair of Olympic gold medals in 1924 and 1928 to earn the right to host the first edition of FIFA’s premier tournament. Armed with homefield advantage and a plethora of talented players, Uruguay swept aside the competition to set up a matchup with Argentina in the final. Using a different ball in both halves, Uruguay overcame a 2-1 halftime deficit using their own model of ball in the second half to the frustration of the Argentinian XI.

This offered dual-handled trophy is silver in color and etched with “A.U. De F. / -A- / Los Vencedores Del Mundo / Montevideo, Julio De 1930”. The trophy is in great condition and stands on a green stone pedestal. It comes with a Letter of Provenance.
