Jose Nasazzi, a commanding center back for Uruguay’s Nacional, led the Uruguayan National Soccer Team to a seminal victory in the inaugural 1930 FIFA World Cup. The imperious defender helmed a defense that conceded only three goals in the tournament, including two during Uruguay’s 4-2 defeat of Argentina in the finals. FIFA retroactively named Nasazzi the best player of the tournament, and he is one of the consensus greatest players in the history of la celeste.

This offered medal is circular, with a high relief etching of two opposing soccer players on the front. Also etched on the front of the medal is “1er Campeonato Mundial De Foot-Ball”. Etched on the back of the medal is a high-relief laurel wreath and the engraving “Jose Nasazzi / Capitan / Montevideo / 1930”. This medal is in great condition! This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
