The Uruguayan soccer star Jose Pedro Cea was presented this Omega pocket watch by the Uruguayan Football Association after La Celeste claimed the 1930 FIFA World Cup title. The tournament, hosted in Uruguay’s capital of Montevideo, saw the South American rivals Uruguay and Argentina meet in the finals at Estadio Centenario. Cea scored Uruguay’s second goal of the game early in the second half to draw level with Argentina at two goals each. Cea finished the tournament with five goals, leading La Celeste. Uruguay went on to win the final 4-2, winning their third international title after the 1924 and 1928 Olympic gold medals. This offered pocket watch is octagonal, with “A.U. De F. / -A- / Jose Pedro Cea / Campeon Mundial / 1930”. The watch shows only minor wear. This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
