Uruguayan forward Jose Pedro Cea was presented with this gilt silver 1930 FIFA World Cup medal after leading Uruguay to the title at FIFA’s inaugural world tournament. The tournament was held in Uruguay, with the final and most matches taking place at the grand Estadio Centenario in Montevideo. Cea turned in an exemplary performance as Uruguay’s top scorer and the second highest scorer in the tournament with five goals, including three in a hat trick performance against Yugoslavia in Uruguay’s 6-1 semifinal win. The Nacional player served an important role in the World Cup Final against Argentina by scoring the goal that tied the match at 2-2 before the Uruguayans Santos Iriarte and Hector Castro tallied goals of their own to give Uruguay a monumental 4-2 victory and the inaugural FIFA World Cup title.

This medal is rectangular and gold in color, with a high relief etching of the Jules Rimet Trophy present on the front of the medal. Etched on the base of the trophy is “1930”. The medal, presented to Cea by the Uruguayan Football Association, has “A.U. de F / -A- / Jose Pedro Cea / Campeon - / - Mundial” etched on the reverse side. This medal is in excellent condition. This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
