The game of poker has changed dramatically from its inception to the present time. Part of the reason happened in 2003 when an amateur named Chris Moneymaker parlayed a $39 buy-in into a $2.5 million dollar score at the World Series of Poker—an annual event in Las Vegas which requires a $10,000 buy-in. Dominated by professionals for years, his win proved that even the casual player had a shot at a huge payday. Since then, poker has exploded in popularity and can be seen literally every night on television. Presented is a 52-card complete set of R111 Wool Candy "Playing Cards" non-sports cards issued in the 1930s-1940s. Each of these rare 1-1/4" x 1-3/4" playing cards - which consist of a full deck of playing cards - carries an advertisement for Wool Candy which was based out of Chicago, IL on the reverse. Overall, this is a solid EX set (some slightly nicer and some lesser).
