Offered is a collection of over fifty pieces related to 1930s Huskies cereal including box backs (20), advertising pieces (4), newspaper ads (11) and comic strip ads (22). General Foods (later to become Post Cereal) introduced their tasty and nutritious Huskies in 1937 as a viable competitor to General Mills’ Wheaties. Probably by way of a cereal box invitation, young consumers were urged to prevail upon Huskies’ opportunity to win any among a whole panorama of cool stuff by mailing in box tops – of the tasty and nutritious Huskies. The key item in this collection is the Lou Gehrig Fold-Out piece. (Lou Gehrig, at the time, was pitchman for Wheaties, and all he had to do was forsake his expiring contract with General Mills and pose for pictures endorsing the tasty and nutritious Huskies. Thus was consummated a pact between Gehrig and General Foods – a contractual marriage that was shortly unveiled that year.) Also included in this array are Hall of Famers Bill Terry, Frankie Frisch, Rogers Hornsby, as well as football stars such as Sammy Baugh, Earl "Dutch" Clark and Don Hutson.
