Graded EX 5 by PSA, the lone copy validated by that company. Offered is an attractive example depicting famous aviator, Charles Lindbergh. This 2-3/16"-diameter, hexagonally shaped insert card was issued with a rub-off "disguise" feature which was removed to reveal Pirates, movie stars, landmarks, etc. The cards' reverse - appearing clock-wise along the outside border - instructs the user how to remove the protective coating. It states, "For answer erase coating on other side. Use pencil eraser preferably. The coating is harmless and non-injurious. Produced by the Hid-N-Picture process." The inner section provides the question and below that are the instructions on how to play the TILO game. "To play TILO put letters T-I-L-O on board. Then deal tiles evenly. To illustrate playing - if first player has such letters as F and A is his hand he lays them down beside the T on board to spell FAT. If next player holds an E, he could change FAT to FATE, or if possible make a new word. The first player getting rid of all his tiles yells TILO and scores the sum of all the white numbers on the tiles of the other players. Words can be spelled in 3 directions. 2 or more may play the game." Exactly how rare are R149's? A quick perusal of our auction database records (since 2000), only five examples have appeared at public auction. Here's an exciting scarcity, in Excellent condition.
