This presented 8 x 11-inch letter on Official New York Governor Executive Mansion letterhead was signed by then Governor of New York and future President, Franklin D. Roosevelt. In this letter addressed to a Mr. George F. Levi, the Grand Secretary and Treasurer of the Brotherhood Railway and S.S. Clerks Freight Handlers Express and Station Employees International Union of Cincinnati, Ohio, is from November 19th, 1932. Roosevelt goes on to thank Mr. Levi for his enthusiastic message of good will that touched Mr. Roosevelt deeply. One can assume this ebullient response to Mr. Levi came on the heels of Roosevelt’s victory over Republican incumbent Herbert Hoover in the 1932 presidential election. Roosevelt states in the letter that he will look to Levi and other like-minded citizens for support and counsel during the days that are ahead. Roosevelt closes the letter by stating “Very sincerely yours” and signed the letter in black ink. The letter contains two crease folds, edging, a stain along the bottom and left side crease folds and is evenly toned throughout. The personal letter signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt comes with an LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.
