After a short call up in 1930, Pinky Higgins returned to the minors for more seasoning. When the Athletics recalled him in 1933, Pinky hit .314 with 13 homers and 99 RBI. He capped off his rookie season by hitting for the cycle against the Senators. The next season, Higgins made the first of his three All-Star Game appearances, establishing himself as the premier third baseman in the AL. Higgins’ rookie era Hillerich & Bradsby Pre Model bat is un-cracked and displays outstanding use. The barrel shows many ball marks and scuffs. The barrel has “8-23-34 36oz Frank “Pinky” Higgins 8-23-34” written in grease pencil. A great side-written bat with direct linkage to an early All-Star. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B13051) for the game use.
