Offered is a 1933 Bronko Nagurski professional wrestling contract signed by Nagurski and legendary pro wrestling manager and promoter Anton Stecher. Nagurski has signed his name “Bronko Nagurski” in blue fountain pen as the “Party of the second Part” in the bottom right of the one-page, white 8½ x 13-inch onionskin page, while Stecher has signed above Nagurski in blue fountain pen “Anton C. Stecher” as “Party of the first part”. The document also includes witness signatures in blue fountain pen from Joseph J. Stecher and Hennepin County (Minnesota) Notary Public Lillian Harris. The typewritten “Memorandum of Agreement” dated March 23, 1933 specifies that Nagurski agrees to be represented by Stecher in arranging wrestling competitions for the Chicago Bears NFL great for a period of five years from the date of the agreement. The contract is mounted on a 9 x 15-inch blue paper sheet by two “brads” at the top and folded in fourths. The bottom front of the onionskin page has two small brown spots from the brads, from contact when folded. Both the cover sheet and the contract page are in clear, clean condition. The contract is folded in a 4½ x 9-inch brown manila envelope torn at the top and bottom edges and inscribed “Nagurski” in black pen in the upper left front. During his pro football career, Nagurski built a second athletic career as a professional wrestler and became a major box-office attraction. Tony Stecher, brother of former world champion Joe Stecher, introduced Nagurski to wrestling in 1933 and became his manager. Nagurski defeated Tag Tagerson in his ring debut. Hitting his peak in the late 1930s, Nagurski won a limited version of the world championship by defeating Dean Detton on June 29, 1937. But he finally achieved full recognition with his first National Wrestling Association world title by defeating Lou Thesz on June 23, 1939. Losing the title to Ray Steele on March 7, 1940, he regained it from Steele one year later on March 11, 1941 but lost it three months later to Sandor Szabo on June 5, 1941. Nagurski continued to wrestle until 1960. This item comes with a LOA from the Nagurski family.
