Presented is a 10-card complete set of R65 Goudey "History of Aviation" non-sports cards issued in 1936. These scarce and desirable 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" paper album pages were most likely given out with Goudey products in stores. Each card contains two printed "holes" which were meant to be punched in order to be inserted in a book or binder, of which all of the cards in this assenbly are found in their unpunched state. The brightly colored fronts feature illustrations of famous aviators or aviation themes, while the backs have a detailed text and technical data describing the card front. Includes: #'s 1 Howard Hughes, 2 Captain Edward Rickerbacker, 3 Wiley Post, 4 Charles Lindbergh, 5 Richard E. Byrd, 6 "Willie Mae", 7 Hughes' Record Smasher, 8 Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis, 9 "Over The North Pole With Byrd" and 10 Wings Over the Pacific. As a point of reference on value, a lesser-conditioned example of this set sold for nearly $700 in Goldin Auctions' Holiday 2017 sale (Lot #194). Presentation quality is EX to NM.
