The 1936-1939 Yankees have gone down in history as the most dominant team in Major League history. During that stretch the New Yorkers won the World Series every year, the last two in four-game sweeps. The 1936 team, with Lou Gehrig (.354/49/152) and Joe DiMaggio (.323/29/125), had one of the most potent offensive lineups since the 1927 squad. Red Ruffing won 20 games and Monte Pearson 19, and with Johnny Murphy coming out of the bullpen the Yanks were virtually unbeatable, cruising to the pennant with a 13 games cushion. The Yankees then faced their cross-town rivals, the Giants, in the World Series. To illustrate their complete dominance the Yanks outscored the Giants 43 to 23 and dispatched them in five games. Although the core of the '36-'39 dynasty was virtually the same, there were slight roster changes that make each edition unique.

This brilliantly stamped Official American League William Harridge baseball has been signed by 22 members of the 1936 World Champion New York Yankees. Lou Gehrig’s signed his name on the sweet spot in black pen, a rarity for him, making this baseball that much more special. The panel with the bold Reach stamp has a who’s who of baseball legends as Hall of Famers Joe DiMaggio and Tony Lazzeri signed their names in black pen, along with the autographs of Frank Crosetti and Jake Powell. The west panel also has some great names, including the signatures of Hall of Famers Lefty Gomez and Joe McCarthy, along with Red Rolfe, Pat Malone and Johnny Broaca. The north panel includes the black pen signatures of Bump Hadley, Don Heffner, Johnny Murphy, Myril Hoag, Jack Saltzgaver and Hall of Famer Bill Dickey. The south panel has the black pen signatures of George Selkirk, Art Jorgens, Monte Pearson, Joe Glenn, Walter Brown and Roy Johnson. The ball is in good condition, given its age and only displays minor toning. The stampings are still a bold blue and the signatures are clear. This item comes with a full LOA from JSA (Z56902).
