He helped his own cause with an RBI fielder's choice in the sixth with the bases loaded off of Johnny Gorsica and a solo home run in the eighth off of Fred Hutchinson. The Tigers pitcher, Schoolboy Rowe, was knocked out after just 1/3 of an inning, allowing four hits, including RBI singles to Ival Goodman and Jimmy Ripple. It marked the third and final time in World Series history in which both teams had the same home field (the other two being the 1921 and 1922 World Series in the Polo Grounds in New York City).  The Cardinals won Game 6 against the Browns, 3-1, and clinched the World Series.  This ticket has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (23421943).  The sixth ticket in this lot is from Game 4 of the 1946 World Series, Cardinals 12, Red Sox 3 at Fenway Park in Boston on Oct. 10, 1946.  This is the only game in World Series history in which three players on the same team (St. Louis) had four or more hits (Enos Slaughter, Whitey Kurowski and Joe Garagiola had four each).
