Offered is this Official National League Ford C. Frick baseball that has been signed by 10 former players, including five Hall of Famers. The ball has been dated to 1938 by JSA based on the signatures. Babe Ruth signed his name in black steel-tip fountain pen on the side panel, which is not his usual sweet spot version. His 1938 post-career signature has been joined by fellow Hall of Famers Leo Durocher of the Brooklyn Dodgers, Joe Medwick of the St. Louis Cardinals, Frank Frisch, the then-manager of the Cardinals and Dizzy Dean of the Chicago Cubs.

The other signatures on this baseball include Van Mungo of the Dodgers, whose autograph is on the sweet spot, Pepper Martin of the Cardinals, along with Johnny Vander Meer, Paul Derringer and Harry Craft of the Cincinnati Reds.

The signatures of Ruth, Medwick and Durocher are on one panel and are clear. Mungo’s sweet spot signature is light, but still readable, while the panel with Derringer, Vander Meer and Frisch’s signatures are light, but darker than Mungo’s. The signatures of Dean, Martin and Craft are very light. The ball displays toning due to age and the entire baseball has been shellacked and cracking is present. There are scuff marks and abrasions present as well. This multi-signed baseball comes with a full LOA from JSA (Y06973). Please note that JSA has determined these signatures are from the 1938 Cardinals, Reds and Dodgers, however, Dizzy Dean played for the Chicago Cubs in 1938. Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
