The 1939 Baseball Centennial, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the "birth" of baseball, was a yearlong celebration highlighted by the dedication of the Baseball Hall of Fame on June 12th. There was an exhibition game played at Doubleday Field between an American and a National League team made up of players from all sixteen major league clubs in which this ticket granted the bearer admission to that game. This rare ticket stub has been graded a Good - 2 by PSA/DNA.
Also included in the lot is a scorecard from the following year at Cooperstown that featured an exhibition game held on June 13, 1940 between the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox. The scorecard has been scored in pencil and features a young Ted Williams, who appears to have hit two home runs, along with other All time greats such as Jimmie Foxx, Joe Cronin, Hack Wilson, Lefty Grove and many others. A true rarity that features the entire game scored.
