The 1939 Cincinnati Reds rode the pitching of Paul Derringer and Bucky Walters to the National League pennant with a 97-57 record. The Reds finished 4 ½ games ahead of the second place St. Louis Cardinals. 25 members of the National League Champion Reds have signed this Official National League Ford C. Frick stamped baseball. Hall of Famers Ernie Lombardi and Al Simmons have signed their names with Hank Johnson (signed Henry Johnson) and Whitey Moore’s signatures on the sweet spot. Other signatures on this baseball include Harry Craft, Ival Goodman, Milt Shoffner, Lew Riggs, Wally Berger, Milt Galatzer, Frenchy Bordagaray, Jimmie Wilson, Willard Herschberger, Billy Myers, Paul Derringer, Bucky Walters, Gene Thompson, Eddie Joost and a few others. The signatures have all been signed in black ink and are light, but still readable and the ball only displays minor toning. The stampings are clear and “1939 CIN-REDS” has been penned in black ink in an unknown hand. This multi-signed baseball comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A19938).
