The USC-UCLA football rivalry began in earnest in 1929, when USC dominated their cross-town rivals in a 76-0 victory. UCLA has clawed their way back into this rivalry in recent years, recording a string of eight consecutive victories from 1991 through 1998. As of the 2016 College Football season, the series stands at 48 wins for USC and 31 for UCLA, with seven draws. The rivalry is especially fierce as the two schools are located only 12 miles apart in Southern California.

This gargantuan trophy was awarded to the winner of the rivalry game starting in 1941, and features the results for every USC-UCLA game from 1941 to 1996, beginning with a 7-7 draw in 1941, and ending with UCLA’s epic 48-41 victory in the 1996 iteration of this rivalry. This trophy consists of a wooden trapezoidal prism base, with a wooden cube and bronze football player capping the trophy. It was created by the legendary sculptor Dan Gluck, who also created the former WFL MVP trophy. This trophy is called the “Los Angeles Championship Trophy Presented by Adohr Farms Dairy”. It measures approximately 44 inches high. The football player is detachable, and a bronze map of the world, with the western hemisphere removed, is attached to the cube. This is a tremendous artifact from one of college football’s most intense rivalries, and a must have for any Angeleno.
