The “Singing Cowboy” accomplished many things in his career, and comic book hero was one of them. Autry made his comic debut in this presented “Gene Autry Comics” in January of 1942. Autry was featured (as himself) during the heyday of Western-themed comics in the 1940s and 1950s and appeared in several comic book series. Fawcett Comics was one of the most successful comic book companies during the Golden Age of Comic Books in the 1940s and ran the “Gene Autry Comics” series from 1941 to 1943. The series lasted 12 issues until Dell picked it up and lasted for another 101 issues until 1955. According to CGC’s census report, only 16 copies have achieved a higher grade than our offered specimen, making this comic a rare find. A rare comic featuring the “Singing Cowboy” in very good condition.
