Melvin Purvis was an FBI agent best known for tracking down the outlaws Baby Face Nelson, Pretty Boy Floyd, and John Dillinger. Purvis was responsible for capturing more public enemies than any other FBI agent, and was known as a crack shot. He also served in World War II, reaching the rank of colonel. Purvis died in 1960 due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound, 25 years after his retirement from the FBI.
This check, for the value of $45.19, was signed on December 14th, 1942. It is from the First National Bank and Trust Co. of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Purvis signed the check in black pen. This check is in excellent condition, save for the cancellation hole punches. This item has been encapsulated and graded a NM – MT 8 by PSA/DNA (83939241).
