Louella Parsons was one of the first powerful women in Hollywood. A screen writer and syndicated newspaper columnist, Parsons wrote the first ever gossip column for the Chicago Record Herald. She became extremely famous in her heyday, famous enough to pen an autobiography, The Gay Illiterate. This hardcover copy of The Gay Illiterate, which is a first edition, has been signed by 24 legendary Hollywood figures. Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby have both signed this book, as well as Barbara Stanwyck, Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Jack Carson, Berry Grable, Loretta Young, Eddie Bracken, William Demarest, Irene Manning, George Brent, Joan Leslie, Raoul Walsh, Edward Arnold, Greer Garson, Gloria DeHaven, Dorothy Lamour, Joyce Reynolds, Harry James, and Adolphe Menjou. The signatures have been written on the first three pages of the book in various different colors of pen. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A03417).
