Up until last year’s 2016 World Series champion Chicago Cubs, the last Cubs team to even reach the World series was the 1945 squad that finished with a National League best 98-56 record and lost a heart-breaking seven game series to the Detroit Tigers. Presented is this Official National League Charles S. Feeney baseball that has been signed by 19 members of that 1945 team. This reunion baseball has the signature of manager Charlie Grim in blue pen on the sweet spot. Above his name is an unidentified player. The south panel has the signatures in black ink of Bill Schuster, Peanuts Lowrey, Ray Prim, an unidentified player and Russ Meyer. The north panel has the signatures in black ink of Don “Pep” Johnson, Phil Cavarretta, Dewey Williams and Lennie Merullo. The sweet spot with the commissioner’s stamp has the signatures of an unidentified player in blue pen and Virgil Trucks, who was on the winning 1945 World Series Detroit Tigers team, in black pen. The east panel has the blue ink signatures of Andy Pafko, Dutch Leonard and Frank Secory. The west panel has the signatures in black ink of Paul Erickson, an unidentified player and the blue pen signature of Claude Passeau. The ball displays toning and there are some marks and abrasions. This multi-signed baseball comes with a full LOA from JSA (Z28046).
